Flying to Chicago
O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is northwest of downtown Chicago. With traffic, travel times can reach an hour or more during rush hour.
O’Hare is the larger of the two airports and most airlines fly into O’Hare.
O’Hare is also a major hub for United Airlines.
Midway International Airport (MDW) is southwest of Downtown Chicago and travel to the city can be anywhere from 25 minutes to 1 hour depending on time of day and traffic.
Southwest Airlines typically only flies to Midway Airport.
Public Transportation to/from the airports
Both airports are accessible by Chicago’s subway system called the “L” (for elevated train).
The Blue Line services O’Hare Airport.
The Orange Line services Midway Airport.
